Entered Harvard University after returning from service in the U.S Navy. Earned an Bachelors degree in mathematics at Harvard in 1950. Then attended Princeton University where he got his PhD in mathematics in 1954. Joined MIT’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1958.
Co-founded the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT which became the one of the leading research centers for the newly created field of AI.
